Farewell The Knife Angel
Wednesday, February 1st, 2023
Having spent a month at Arbour Park, Slough, the Knife Angel continues its perpetual tour around the UK, spreading its message against knife crime, and the dangers of carrying knives.
In addition to its educational role, it is the national memorial to knife crime victims. It was made using more than 100,000 knives and blades removed from streets in seizures, amnesties etc.
Its presence has been inspiring and thought provoking. In addition to the stats in the tweet below, we were told by a PCSO in attendance that it had facilitated engagement with more than 2,500 school pupils.
While we bid farewell to the knife angel, we must all hope that its presence has an abiding effect on the consciousness and habits of those who might consider carrying and using knives.
Meanwhile, the angel will continue to spread its message nationwide. It has been on tour for 4 years, most recently at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes. It is now off to Gloucester Cathedral in February, Guildford in March etc.
